December 7, 1942-February 15, 2024
Gerald (Jerry) F. Cavalier came into this world on December 7, 1942. He left this life peacefully on February 15, 2024, surrounded by family. Jerry was born to Clarence Joseph Cavalier and Beatrice McKenzie Cavalier and spent his childhood growing up in Pontiac, Michigan, along with his four older siblings. He would go on to attend Western Michigan University, where he was a charter member of the Zeta Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity, as well as Senior Class President of his graduating class. Jerry was a lifelong Sigma Chi and a past President of the Dallas Sigma Chi Alumni Association, one of the largest in the country. He also dedicated six years to the U. S. Army National Guard. After college, he spent over 60 years in sales working for the Dupont Company, multiple international firms, and TLC National Marketing Company, where he served as Executive VP. While at TLC, he acted as President of the TLC Foundation, a charity that granted wishes to terminally ill children. Jerry ended his career as President of Cavalier Insurance Agency, specializing in supplemental insurance. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years and love of his life, Barbara, his children, Pamela (his constant source of pride and joy), Keyle (his baby girl who had his heart), and Jay (his son who became his hero and rock), his son in law, Mayor Rob Baker, as well as two of his greatest joys, his grandchildren, Charlie and Britt Baker. We would like to say a special Thank You to Terri Moore and the Moore Family, Mike and DeDe Porter, Duke and Laurel Deware, and all the friends, family, and neighbors who have reached out to us in this time of loss.
Let’s celebrate Jerry’s life with laughter, stories that stretch the truth a bit, and maybe a Crown Royal or two. Jerry may be gone, but his spirit will live on in every “y’all, howdy, and toast” we utter. Until we meet again, may your glass be forever full and your laughter echo through the streets of Jefferson. (Daddy….DEF)
