Lady Dawg Softball playoffs continue

The Jefferson Lady Dawgs continued their playoff run last week, defeating Daingerfield 9-8 and 11-2 last Thursday. 

Emma Galey drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Dawgs past Daingerfield. She started the game off for the Dawgs with a grand slam in the first inning.

Daingerfield tied the game at the bottom of the first, but was unable to recover after an error in the second led Jefferson to extend their lead 7-5.

The score rose to 9-8 in the sixth with Chloe Wood doubled, Ashlynn Cooner singled, and Brynlie Braddock singled.

Madison Clark started the game pitching, only allowing seven hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four.

Overall the team collected 13 hits. Wood led with three, and Clark and Rayleigh Gulk each collected multiple hits.

In the second game, Galey collected three hits in four at bats as the Dawgs defeated the Tigers 11-2. Galey also doubled in the third, singled in the second, and singled in the fifth.

The bottom of the third was all it took for Jefferson as they flipped the game scoring five runs to take a 6-2 lead.

Jefferson collected 17 hits in the game. Jayden Jenkins led with four runs from the number eight spot in the lineup. Galey and Cooner each collected three, and Christiana Justice and Karly Long also had multiple hits.

The Lady Dawgs played Mount Vernon on Tuesday, but lost 5-16. 

They face Mount Vernon again on May 3 at 6p at Mount Vernon.
