Bettye Jean Ferguson of Lake 0′ Pines, 95, passed away on June 10, 2024, in Kingsland, Texas. She was known for her selfless nature, always giving of her time, possessions, and love to those around her. Bettye’s kitchen was a place of warmth and hospitality, where many found comfort in a cup of coffee or glass of tea and a slice of homemade cake, pie or bread.
Bettye is survived by her daughter, Vicky Lovett; granddaughter, Mechelle Delz (Troy); grandson, Richard Stone (Shanna); granddaughter, Amanda Lightsey (Mark); great-grandchildren, Stacie Delz, Danielle Delz, Jackson Lawrie, Ella Lawrie, Heather Bird, Emma Stone, Camryn Lightsey, Kendall Lightsey; great great grandchildren, Preslie Watson, Wyatt Watson, Neal Delz, and Wynter Durham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clevis and Eva Kennedy; husband, Carl Ferguson; son, Greg Ferguson; sisters, Hazel Archer, Delma Corbin, Louise Gordon, Deon Brooks; and brothers, Paul Kennedy and Bud Kennedy.
Bettye’s hobbies included traveling with her husband Carl in their camper, fishing across Texas, Oklahoma, and neighboring states. She enjoyed reading & working puzzles. Later in life she enjoyed going on trips with her friend Jack. Most of all she cherished the fellowship of family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, at 11:30 am at Mims Chapel United Methodist Church, 13714 FM 729, Avinger, Texas, officiated by Reverend Bubba Deberry. The family will gather on a later date to spread her ashes.
