Yvonne Heloise Thompson

March 16, 1950-June 2, 2024

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Yvonne Heloise Thompson, 74 of Jefferson, Texas will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2024, at noon in The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson, with the Rev. Msgr. Zach Kunnakkattuthara officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. She will be interred in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Jefferson, beside her parents. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday July 10, at 6 pm in The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Ms. Thompson was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 16, 1950, to Arthur L. Thompson and Eloise Martinez Thompson. She passed away on June 2, 2024, in Marshall, Texas. 

She was baptized Catholic and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Jefferson, Texas. She was an altar society member. She attended Linden schools and graduated from East Texas Baptist college with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975. She taught for a while in Marshall schools. She was the pink lady for many years at the Marshall hospital. She loved to sing along with the 60’s and 70’s hit tunes, especially the Elvis songs. She had a beautiful voice. She was very proud of her parents who both served in the armed services, her father being a POW in the Philippines in 1943. He survived the famous Bataan Death March. She loved her cat, Precious, who survives her at 21 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Those left behind are her sister, Mary Quada of Atlanta, Texas, nieces, Sandra Vance of Dallas, Texas and Jeanette Bryan of McCloud, Texas. Also, her dear friends, Betty King of Jefferson, Texas and Mary Poplin of Gilmer, Texas. She is also survived by extended family and friends.
