The Jefferson Tourism Board recently received news that their advertising agency, Anderson Marketing Group of San Antonio, would not be renewing their contract for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
“They have lost employees and are having trouble getting employees with upper level skills to promote, so they are giving us notice to be out of the ocntract by the end of September,” said board president Colleen Taylor. “They enjoyed working with us, it’s just their staffing.”
Taylor is looking for names of agencies to replace Anderson as soon as possible.
mRoberts Media made a brief presentation at the end of the meeting on their digital marketing programs and indicated they would prepare a proposal for the City.
The board elected officers for the coming year. Taylor was re-elected as president; Sharon Goolsby was re-elected as secretary; and vice-president is Mike Chandler.
“I will take it but someone else really needs to start learning this,” Taylor said.
HOT tax funds are on track for the year with income outpacing expenses.
One property is still delinquent on HOT taxes. The City Attorney will be reviewing the ordinance and emails sent to the property for review and action – which might include forced closure.
The new rental agreement on the Transportation Center is under review by City Secretary Melissa Boyd and pending review with the City Attorney. Rates are expected to increase for the coming year.
A new City commercial will be filmed on August 1 with the Tyler TV station. Taylor is still gathering ideas including the trolley tour, drive-through safari, and one of the BnBs. Ideas should be sent to Taylor.
