Jefferson has lost a real cowboy. Roy Lawrence Richie, 81, of Jefferson, passed away on August 27, 2024, after a battle with cancer.
Roy was born on February 28, 1943, to James Lawrence and Wilma Mae (Williams) Richie in San Diego, Calif. Roy graduated from john F. Kimball High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy.
Roy met Judy Anne Jenkins on July 6, 1967, and they were married the next day. They had two daughters, Tara and Tiffany, that were the lights of their lives. After Judy’s passing, Roy me Vicki Diemert St. Denis and they were married on December 15, 2007. He was blessed to have her by his side for almost 17 years.
Roy is survived by his wife, Vicki Richie, of Jefferson; daughters Tara Jones (Steve) of Krum, Texas, Tiffany Richie (Melinda Mayes) of Addy, Wash.; Step-children Chad St. Denis (Angie) and cherish St. Denis; grandchildren Justin Jones (Mariah, Jaimie Jones, Cassandra Stroud (Travis Hill), Maggie Womack (Jacob), Jantzen Parker, Lorelai Schafer, and Ford Schafer; great-grandchildren Ryon Jones, palmer Womack, Audrey and Sutton; brother Edward Richie (Judy), Sister Debra Wegman (Terry), and sister-in-law Laura Richie; along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilma Richie; brother Keneth Richie; and wife Judy Richie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at 2p at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson.
