Farmers Market

  • Mims Farmers Market located at 12728 FM 729 North side of Lake O the Pines is back open for the Fall from 9a-Noon. They have fresh eggs, local honey, compressed  soaps. baked goods, local authors, and more. It will stay open every Saturday until October 5..
  • Marion County Farmers Market, located on Austin Street, is open every Saturday through the end of October.

APL

Animal Protection League will be in Jefferson at the corner of Henderson and Polk streets on September 9. They offer low cost vaccinations as a walk-in, and spay/neuter services by appointment. Vaccinations are available from 10a-2p. To schedule a spay/neuter appointment, call 903-440-4911 or 903-753-7387

Outdoorsman

The 3rd Annual Outdoorsman Oasis will start at 5p Sept. 14 at the Jefferson Visitors and Convention Center. Guest speaker is Danny Tesseneer from Gardendale, Ala. The event is free and sponsored by Heritage Baptist Church.

Revival

Jefferson First Assembly of God welcomes the Rev. Roger Lewis for Revival Services Sunday September 15 10:45a and 5p.  Everyone is invited to come! 

Banquet

The Annual Marion County Chamber of Commerce Banquet is set for 6p September 21 at the Jefferson Convention and Visitor’s Center. RSVP is required and Tickets are $25 for individual members and $35 for not yet members. Business members have tickets as a part of their membership. PAACC

The Pyland African American Cemetery Charter (PAACC) will hold it’s Annual Board of Directors meeting Saturday, September 21, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Pyland African American Cemetery.  The Public is welcome. Contact us @ www.thepaacc.org

Rodeo

The Becca Anderson Memorial Rodeo Queen Pageant is set for September 27-28 and now’s the time to signup! Applications are now available by contacting Samantha at 940-386-4065 or Susan at 903-930-8920. More information is also available on their Facebook page @Becca Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program. The deadline to register for the competition is September 1st and the competition itself is September 14.

Autumn in Avinger

Avinger will be celebrating Autumn with their annual Autumn in Avinger festival from 10a-5p September 30 at #7 Main Street Education, Avinger. There will be shopping, food through out the day, and bingo starting at 5:30p.

NNO

National Night Out is right around the corner and this year big changes are in the works to make the event even bigger and better! This year the event will take place starting at 5:30p  on October 1 at W.F. Lockett Stadium. The event relocated to the stadium to allow for better lighting and parking, as well as more participation. If you’d like to setup, contact Billy Ramsey at 903-665-0570, or the Jimplecute at 903-665-2462. Sponsorships are available via donations for drawings, or to support advertising for the event.

Bible Study

Cumberland Presbyterian Church is hosting a weekly bible study every Wednesday night. The evening starts with a 6p supper, and bible study from 6:30-7:30p led by Shane Shaddix. All are welcome. The group is currently starting Book of Hebrews.

Bees

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
