JISD responds to two incidents

Staff Reports

JISD Superintendent Michael Walker released two statements over the past 10 days regarding incidents involving fire arms at the high school campus.

According to the statement last week, principal Joel Windham received a report about a potential threat of a weapon being on campus due to an overheard conversation. Following investigations, no weapon or credible threat was found.

This week, a student drove their parents car to school, and the detection dogs alerted on the vehicle. A gun was found secured in the console. No threat to students was found.

Walker reminded parents to be vigilant in ensuring there is nothing in a vehicle that is illegal for a student o possess or not appropriate for students to possess at school as there are repercussions for the student involved.
