Virtual Chamber
The Marion County Chamber Offices will be operating virtually next week as the City begins work on trying to locate a water leak near their building on Austin street. Cleanup Day
A Community Cleanup Day will begin at 8:30a November 16 at Heritage Baptist Church. This recurring event is sponsored by the Jefferson Lions and Rotary Clubs, Marion County Chamber of Commerce, and Heritage Baptist Church. Meet at the church at 8:30a and receive street assignments. Coffee, Donuts, and trash bags will be provided.

Autumn in Avinger
Avinger will be celebrating Autumn with their annual Autumn in Avinger festival from 10a-5p November 23 at #7 Main Street Education, Avinger. There will be shopping, food through out the day, and bingo starting at 5:30p.
Gardening

Christmas Crafts
The Mims VFD Ladies Auxiliary will hold their annual Christmas Craft Bazaar from 10a-3p at the Mims Community Center, 12728 FM 729, on December 7. There will be a silent auction, bake sale, hot cocoa, light lunch, and lots of handcrafted items. For more information, or to setup a booth, contact 903-256-7306.
Toys For Tots
A Fill the Truck Toy Drive will be from 11a-5p November 30 at the corner off Austin and Polk Streets. Donors are asked to bring unwrapped toys. There will be kids activities, picture opportunities, and family friendly karaoke at Auntie Skinner’s starting at 7p.
Christmas Parade
The annual Marion County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will be at 6p November 30 and will route up Austin Street to Market Street, to Henderson Street to Lion’s Park. Parade entries are now being accepted with a $10 entry fee. Lights are required on all floats. Lineup will begin at 4p on Walnut Street.
Wassail Walk
Jefferson’s annual Wassail Walk through downtown will be from Noon-6p November 30. Shops will have free samples of their favorite recipe of warm apple cider/cinnamon drink – some may be spiked. Shop and Sip all afternoon until the parade starts at 6p.
Enchanted Forest
The Jefferson Lions Club and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce will formally light the City’s Enchanted Forest immediately following the Christmas Parade on November 30. Come out, see the trees, and meet Santa!
North Pole
Come have a festive celebration this year at the Atalanta North Pole Express. The JAWGC Gould Car Committee is sponsoring this new event which will feature a hot chocolate bar and a tour of the Atalanta rail car all decked out for Christmas. The event takes place from 3-7p December 12.
Candlelight Market
There will be a Christmas Candlelight Market from 3-7p December 12, and from 4-8p December 13-14, in the William Perry Park, 211 W Austin (next to the Excelsior Hotel). MLK Banquet
Tickets are on sale for MCDCSCO’s annual MLK Jr Day banquet on January 20, 2025. A souvenir program will be sold this year with ads at $25 or $50. Bible Study
Cumberland Presbyterian Church is hosting a weekly bible study every Wednesday night. The evening starts with a 6p supper, and bible study from 6:30-7:30p led by Shane Shaddix. All are welcome. The group is currently starting Book of Hebrews.

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
