Roy Haskelm Henderson, born May 18, 1956, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at Good Shepherd in Longview, Texas. He was 68 years old.

Roy was born to the late Harry Henderson and Lillie Conkleton Henderson. A hard-working man with a gentle spirit, Roy spent his life dedicated to his family and community. He worked at Domino Papermill, Judge James Carlow Dairy Farm, Eddie and Sue Steptoe Dairy Farm, and later with Jimmy Duffer Construction Company until his health no longer allowed. His resilience was evident throughout his life, including after receiving a life-giving kidney donation that blessed him with 15 additional years.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Harry Henderson; grandparents, Henry and Lizzette Conkleton and Tom and Ora Henderson; brother, Bernice Henderson; sisters, Angelia Burns and Hazel Henderson; and his nephew, Michael D. Henderson. He is also remembered by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Henderson, who was his steadfast companion; his daughter, Lisa Williams (Antwaine) of New Boston, Texas; son, Christopher Ellis (Ashley) of Melissa, Texas; and stepson, Carl Ellis (Helena) of Anna, Texas. Roy’s legacy lives on in his cherished grandchildren, Alaysia, Shamia, Shamonte, Ashyla, Mariya, Dakota, and Hailey; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Syrus, Daniel, Emmanuel, Honesty, and Rose. Roy also leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Shaniqua Ellis; son-in-law, Aaron Wiley; his beloved pets, King (a loyal puppy) and Pepsi (his treasured horse); his devoted mother, Lillie Henderson of New Boston, Texas; brothers, James Henderson (Norma) of Nash, Texas, and Lindell Henderson (Virginia) of New Boston, Texas; sisters, Willie Miller of Texarkana, Texas, and Mary Henderson, Patricia Henderson, Connie Henderson, and Lizzetta Arnold all of New Boston, Texas, special aunts, Hazel Conkleton and Ammie Alexander ( Tamp), both of New Boston, Texas.

Special gratitude is extended to his next-door neighbor, Johnny (“Cuz”), and to the many friends, family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins who enriched his life.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the family who generously donated their daughter’s kidney, extending Roy’s life and granting his family precious additional years with him.

Interment will take place at Arkadelphia Cemetery in Old Boston, Texas. A service honoring Roy’s life will be held on November 16th at 10 a.m. at Lewis and Walker Funeral Home, located at 603 State Hwy 49 West, Jefferson, Texas.
