Staff Reports
Blessings of Grace Food Pantry is getting a new home this year as JISD Board of Trustees approved a one-year lease for them at the Primary Campus.
Blessings of Grace was notified in April that they had to vacate their current location at the former Magnolia Manor by the end of May due to the building be up for sale.
They will be utilizing a portion of the cafeteria storage area and some rooms in the south end of the old annex building, but only during non-school hours. A schedule for their services still needs to be finalized.
Update: After this was published, Blessings of Grace notified the Jimplecute they are still examining the offer. “We just got a copy of the lease agreement and there are some issues,” emailed Elizabeth Opiela. “Also, they are requiring us to provide $2 million in liability insurance, and we don’t know if we can afford it.”
The Board also swore-in newly elected members. JISD canceled their May election due to all candidates being unopposed.
Newly elected include Lauren Glover, Joey Romano and Kirstin Johnson.
This was followed by election of officers, which are: President Tolesia Smith-Davis, Vice PresidentKirstin Johnson, and Secretary Leah Cooper.
The Board approved funning for improvements to the High School Band Hall, Gym, and new band uniforms.
The Board also recognized those retiring for their years of service to the district. See those recognized online.
Others leaving the district this year include: Brandy Musick, Melanie Wheeler, Jimmy Phillips, Lisa Robinson, Elizabeth Chandler, Hope Faulkner, Melinda Murphy, and Stanley Kimbell.
