Champagne for Two opens OHTP’s 37th season

Marcia Thomas/Special to the Jimplecute

Step back in time next Saturday into a golden era of music as Australia’s Brad Ackland, a velvet voiced crooner, brings to life the Great American Songbook — songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Nat King Cole, and the great interpreters of romance and swing.

From the smoky ballads of the 1930s to the swinging standards of today when he performs in the Players opening season kickoff entitled “Champagne For Two”, he’ll glide effortlessly through ten, eleven, or more unforgettable classics – each performed with style, charm and a wink to the legends who came before.

You should be present for this in our little river port town, Jefferson.

Champagne For Two takes place at 7:30p Saturday, August 30, at the Union Baptist Church Event Building. The suggested attire is vintage glamour if available or something sparkly and sequined for the ladies and spiffy shirt, sport coat and slacks for the gentlemen.

Tickets for the evening event are $30 per person and include champagne and hors d’oeuvres following the performance in the building directly behind the performance venue.

Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.JeffersonOperaHouseTheatrePlayers.com by cards or by calling to reserve to 903/665-8243 or 903/926-2760 as soon as possible.  Some may be available at the door.
