Mayor resigns

Jefferson Mayor Patricia Finstrom resigned Wednesday evening at the start of a Special City Council meeting to interview and hire a City Attorney.

Finstrom cited recent and ongoing health issues with her husband, Jim, as the reason for the resignation.

Ward 1 Alderman Hollis Shadden, who is Mayor Pro Tem, is acting Mayor until Council makes a decision on whether to appoint an interim Mayor who would serve until May, or to leave the seat vacant. If left Vacant, Shadden would retain his Alderman seat and act as Mayor. He would still have a vote during Council meetings.
