This is the Recorded version of the Jefferson City Council meeting on February 17, 2026. It is recorded simultaneously while the LIVE version was being broadcast. It SHOULD have better audio and not be “choppy.”
The connection in the building is poor, especially with a room full of people and them all recording their own versions. The Jimplecute has offered to pay to install what we believe would help resolve the issue, but was turned down, and we understand why.
Last night on FaceBook, someone made accusations that the Jimplecute, or more specifically Hugh Lewis (owner), cut the feed intentionally during the broadcast to “cover” for the elected official being discussed.
This is NOT the case. The live feed was choppy due to connectivity issues, as ANYONE who has watched previous live feeds can see. The Jimplecute does not cut feeds, or cover for any elected official.
It is true the Jimplecute has not run a story on the allegation discussed until this week. We have known about the allegation since November 2025. HOWEVER, the Jimplecute does not run allegations or rumors, jail arrest reports, etc., as it is extremely difficult to get the resolution to those items, and can lead to individuals being accused or their reputations damaged without cause. The Jimplecute contacted or was contacted by the Jefferson Police Department, the County Attorney, the accused, and one of the parents. We have been waiting for an update from ANY of those sources while the investigation was on going. The Council meeting was the first update we’ve heard and we have no more official information than what was stated in the meeting.
This type of issue has come up before and the Jimplecute was accused of being biased because we would not tell only one side of a story. That is simply not what we do.
The Jimplecute could fill 16 pages a week with the rumors and claims that are made in Marion County. We choose to be responsible, ethical, and reasonable and NOT publish those. That’s what Social Media has turned into, and the Jimplecute is not Social Media.
Please be considerate of the individuals involved – regardless of innocence, guilt, responsibility, or involvement. This is a delicate situation which has lifelong implications for everyone involved.
