Lions honor members, guests

The Jefferson Lions Club held its Awards Banquet and New Officer Installation last Thursday at 1852 on Austin in Jefferson. Members and guests enjoyed dinner and were delighted with musical entertainment provided by Joe Buck Crisp and Luanne Neely. Special guests were members of MCDCSO, Past District Governor Charles Horn, Past District Governor Paul Moore, and District Governor Rickey Caughron.

Awards presented were:

• PDG Paul Moore  – Grand Master Key and Medallion for bringing 50 new members into Lions.

• Hamid Habibelahian – Certificate of Appreciation for providing our club meeting place.

• Big Cypress Corvettes – Certificate of Appreciation for major sponsorship of the Jefferson Lions Club Lucky 5k and Fun Run.

• KMHT Radio – Jefferson Lions Club Media Award for promotion of club and community events.

• MCDCSCO – Jefferson Lions Club Heart of a Lion Community Award for continued service and assistance to the community.

• Mary Spearmon – Special Recognition and Appreciation Award for years of service to the Club and the community.

• Peggy Walker – Texas Lions Camp Life Membership for promotion of Texas Lions Camp.

Current officers were recognized and gifted special Texas Lions Camp tiles by President Peggy Walker, who was also presented with an Appreciation Award for serving as Club President in 2022–2023.

District Governor Rickey Caughron installed the following officers for the 2023–2024 year:

President – Skip Torrans; 1st Vice President – Seth Buckner; 2nd Vice President – Dr. Arcolia Watters; Secretary – Debbie Graves; Treasurer – Mike Chandler; Tale Twister – Sammy Testa; Lion Tamer – Peggy Walker.
