Jefferson ISD is on the hunt for a new athletic director as Jefferson’s Antwain Jimmerson has submitted his resignation to the district ending 9-years leading the bulldogs.
“I don’t know what the next chapter is,” Jimmerson said. “It was like full circle for me because once we’d made the decision a college called. But it was like the week before I came here University of Tulsa called offering me a linebacker coaching job.”
Jimmerson said things have been good here but he is ready to look for a new opportunity.
“Probably the most nervous I’ve been was when I signed the contract for here,” he said.
JISD superintendent Michael Walker said “Coach Jimmerson has done a great job for JISD. I appreciate what he has done for the program. I wish the best for him and his family moving forward. He has my full support in whatever comes next.
“When Coach Jimmerson first came home to Jefferson it was one of his priorities to do a great job for the community he grew up in. He has accomplished that. I appreciate Coach Jimmerson’s work ethic, the love he has for his student athletes and coaches, and the opportunities he has afforded kids,” Walker added.
Jimmerson has a 62-38 record while leading the Bulldogs and a career head football coaching record of 162-58. He joined the district in 2015, and has 31 years coaching.
“It doesn’t matter what you do professionally, it’s about the relationships you build in life,” Jimmerson said. “And I’ve built some wonderful relationships here in Jefferson.”
