Farmers Market

The Jefferson Farmers Market is open and are accepting applications for those wanting to participate. The Cost is $25 for the entire season. They meet from 10a-2p every Saturday in downtown Jefferson just off Austin Street across from the Thomas Jefferson Park. Summer Reading

The Jefferson Carnegie Library will have their “Adventures in the Library” Summer Reading program form 10-11a every Wednesday in June and July.

Garden Growth

Magnolia Place is asking help in making their Memory Garden “Grow” on the “Longest Day” for Alzheimer’s Awareness at 11a June 20. Various colored pinwheels are available to be placed in the garden. The colors include Purple or Pink for those lost to Alzheimer’s; Green for caregivers; Blue for those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementia; and Red for those unaffected but are supporters or advocates. Canning

It’ll be that time of year again soon and the Marion and Harrison County Extension Offices are hosting a Canning Workshop Saturday, June 22 in Marshall. The fee is $20 and to register or for more information, contact Doug Weir at 903-665-2421, or Louraiseal McDonald at 903-935-8414. Registration deadline is June 14.

Mini Cheer Camp

Jefferson High School Cheerleaders are holding their annual Mini Cheer Camp July 31-August 2 for students who have completed grades K-5. To register go to www.JeffersonISD.org/online_store and select JHS Cheer Mini Clinic by July 1 and the fee is $55. Cheerleaders will rotate between stations for help in jumps, motions, cheers, and dance.  

July 4

Preparations are underway for the annual Jefferson Salutes America festivities in downtown on July 4.

The annual event features a hometown Independence Day celebration including live music, pie and cake auction for the library, children’s group fundraisers, ice cream contest, and of course a fireworks celebration over the bayou after dark.

Support for the event is based on donations from the community. To particiapte, contact the Krewe of Hebe or find their post on FaceBook and use the QR Code to donate. 

Ducks Unlimited

Cass County Ducks Unlimited will hold their annual banquet August 24. Limited tables are available. For more information, contact Rusty Anderson at 903-799-0980 or Liz Anderson at 903-806-6010.

Bees

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
