The Jefferson Carnegie Library will have their “Adventures in the Library” Summer Reading program form 10-11a July 17 and 24.
Volleyball Camp
Jefferson High School Volleyball is sponsoring a “Bayou Bullies” Volleyball camp from 9-11:30a July 15-17 for girls entering 3rd thru 8th grade. Cost is $30 per athlete. Registration must be done by July 5th to guarantee tshirt and can be done online at: https://forms.gle/c3cRYdWZamaTorat5
Business Mixer
The next Marion County Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer will be at 5:30p July 17 at ETx Dental, 601 N Walnut. Come join the fun, meet the folks at ETx Dental and network with other Jefferson businesses.
Clean Up
Want our community to look better? Join the Community Cleanup at 8:30a July 20 at Heritage Baptist Church. The Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Lions Club, Jefferson Rotary, and Heritage Baptist have teamed up to help clean up our community. They will also be hosting days on September 21 and November 16.
Boat Races
The Annual “Squirtin in the Pines” Boat Races at Lake O’the Pines will be noon-6p July 20 at Hurricane Creek Recreation Area at Lake O’the Pines. The annual event features jet boats from across the region.
APL
Animal Protection League will be in Jefferson at the corner of Henderson and Polk streets on July 22, August 5, August 31, and September 9. They offer low cost vaccinations as a walk-in, and spay/neuter services by appointment. Vaccinations are available from 10a-2p. Mini Cheer Camp
Jefferson High School Cheerleaders are holding their annual Mini Cheer Camp July 31-August 2 for students who have completed grades K-5. To register go to www.JeffersonISD.org/online_store and select JHS Cheer Mini Clinic by July 1 and the fee is $55. Cheerleaders will rotate between stations for help in jumps, motions, cheers, and dance.
Substitutes
Jefferson ISD is holding substitute teacher training from 9a-noon for new substitutes, and 1-2p for returning substitutes, all on July 25. Training is mandatory. Training is held at the administration building, 1600 MLK Drive. For more information or to register, www.jeffersonisd.org
Lunch & Learn
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch and Learn from 11:30-12:30 July 29, at the Jefferson Convention & Visitors Center. Day Shelmire, director of the UT Tyler-Longview Small Business Development Center will be the guest speaker. RSVP at 903.665.2672 text of phone. The event is Free for Chamber members, or $10 for guests.

The Becca Anderson Memorial Rodeo Queen Pageant is set for September 27-28 and now’s the time to signup! Pre-K
JISD is now enrolling pre-k students for the 2024-25 school year. The program is for students 3 & 4 years of age by September 1. Contact Lindsey Whitaker for more information lwwhitaker@jeffersonisd.org. Payment options are $3,000 for full year, $1,650 per semester; or $370 monthly.

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.

The Jefferson Farmers Market is open and are accepting applications for those wanting to participate. The Cost is $25 for the entire season. They meet from 10a-2p every Saturday in downtown Jefferson just off Austin Street across from the Thomas Jefferson Park.
