6th annual tractor, truck, model-T show set  for Saturday Sept 14

While artists are filling the shops this weekend, antique tractors, trucks and model-T’s will take over downtown from 10a-2p next Saturday, Sept. 14.

Downtown streets will be closed to traffic to accommodate antique tractors, antique trucks, Model-T’s, stationary and working antique engines, antique farm machinery, antique displays depicting such things as blacksmithing, ice-cream making, and corn processing; and swap meet participants with items for sale of interest to this specific group. Come exhibit or as a spectator to see over 100 years of rural American history in downtown Jefferson on its historic brick streets.

And something new this year. At 4p on Friday afternoon, antique tractors, trucks and Model-Ts will leave Downtown Jefferson for a ride of approx. three miles that traverses the historic district of Jefferson. Spectators are welcome along the Ride Route to cheer on these remarkable vehicles. The Jefferson Tourism Department, event sponsor, says “When you visit Jefferson, you take a journey back through time to a bustling 19th century river port. It was an era of prosperity and wealth, of petticoats and parasols, of Southern grace and romance. Today, Jefferson is a serene but vivacious historic town, a genuine artifact of the thriving riverport town it once was. It is home to more state registered historic structures than anywhere else in Texas, many of which are also listed on The National Registry of Historic Places.”

The Saturday event will include Slow Race at 11a of Tractors and Model-T’s. The Slow Race is a true test of both machine and driver and is quite a sight to see. There will be a Parade of antique tractors, trucks, and Model-T’s at 1p. The event is free of charge for exhibitors, swap meet vendors and spectators.

Early registration will be on at 11:30a-6:30p September 13, on the corner lot next to the General Store, also an event sponsor, at Austin and Walnut. Saturday registration for exhibitors will be from 7-10a. The Show is open to the public from 10a-2p on Saturday.

Participants can register as many vehicles/exhibits as they want. Registration will be onsite at the event.
