Marion County veterans and their families gathered Monday to recognize and celebrate our veterans.
Master of Ceremonies and Marine Corps Vietnam veteran Jerry Hoag led the morning’s activities which included Jefferson Elementary students leading the Pledge of Allegiance, singing “America the Beautiful”, and the 4th Grade Choir performing a “Song of Peace” and a parachute routine to “American Soldier.”
Jefferson High School Principal Joel Windham was the guest speaker and spoke on how his family of veterans influenced who he is today.
JHS student Aaron Bellard delivered a thank you to veterans.
Leah Cooper and Barbara Glock presented the POW/MIA Remembrance Table, and Paulette Coooper read “In Flanders Field.”
The annual event was at Otstott Park.
