A memorial service for Steve Welch, 65, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
Steve was born on October 2, 1960, in Marshall, Texas to William Traylor Welch and Eunice Oneta Sutton Welch and passed away on September 13, 2026, in Longview, Texas.
He married Linda Sue Thomas on July 5, 1980, at Woodlawn Baptist Church and they remained married until his passing. Steve was a hardworking, loyal, family man who never hesitated to put others before himself. Fishing, hunting, and motorcycles were his passions, but nothing ever came close to the love he carried for his family. He was a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who led with heart and stood firm through tough times. As his hard-working hands are laid to rest, we honor the legacy shaped by them. For the family Steve built, the memories he protected, and the love he gave, his impact will not be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Traylor Welch.
He is survived by his mother, Neta Welch; wife, Linda Thomas Welch; children, Michael Welch (Kristen), Brad Welch and B.J. Welch (Jasmine) all of Woodlawn, Texas; brother, Johnny Welch (Freida) of Longview, Texas; sister, Lanita Burchfield (Curtis) of Woodlawn, Texas and grandchildren, Destiny Welch (fiancé, Jerald), Mackenzie Welch, Drake Welch, Carter Welch and Blakelynn Welch along with numerous other family and friends.
