Edith Lucille Stormes Thompson was born January 7, 1938 in Ropeville, Texas. She had been a resident of Jefferson for 3 years, formerly living in Dallas and Austin. She was Baptist by faith and worked for IBM and in medical delivery. She enjoyed genealogy, watching football, Nascar and the Texas Rangers.
Edith passed away at the age of 82 on December 22, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Wylie Stormes; mother, Minnie Lou (Mining) Nix; step-father, Turman Nix; children, Billy Gene Davis and LaWanda Renee Davis; husbands, Monroe Davis, Sr. and Robert Thompson; sisters, Rosa L. Caldwell and Mary M. Fokken; brother, William W. Stormes; and great-grandchild, Jacob Evans.
Survivors include her children, Betty Lou Schmitz (Frank), Monroe Clyde Davis, Jr. (Sandra), and James Allen Davis; daughter-in-law, Virginia Davis; sister, Marjorine Ann Vaughn; brother, Frederick Gene Stormes; 14 grandchildren, Michael Young, Michelle Attaway, Chrystal Carr, Latisha Eaves, Lisa Davis, James C. Davis, Robert Davis, Elizabeth Ladner, Rebecca Ladnier, DeAnna Manasco, Brad J. Atkinson, Christopher Atkinson, Billy A. Davis, Petra Davis, Charles “CJ” Holzer, and Mark Southwell; and 29 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and time by the family at the Eastland City Cemetery.
