The Marion County Chamber of Commerce is hosting JPD Chief Tino Perez at noon Monday April 12, to discuss Crime Prevention and Awareness for your small business.
This event will be held in the front ballroom of the Jeffersonian Institute. Lunch will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
CLHRC to meet for the first time in a year
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our first Caddo Lake Historical Research Committee meeting in over a year.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 2:00 pm at the Potter’s Point Community Center, 129 Marion County Rd 3636, Gray, Texas.
Sammie DeSpain, will present our program, “Hooked on History.”
The purpose of the Caddo Lake Historical Research Committee is to preserve and improve the natural and cultural integrity of the Caddo Lake eco-system and to promote an appreciation of the ecological, natural and cultural history through the acquisition, preservation and cultivation of historical information, artifacts, sites, and buildings, known or unknown, in and around the lake and its environs, and to establish an archives and research center.
Drive thru dinner set at Mims
A drive thru chicken spaghetti dinner is planed for Friday April 16, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. or to sold out at the Mims VFD community center located at 12727 FM729 Avinger, Texas, on the North side of Lake O the Pines.
The meal will consist of chicken spaghetti, green beans, garlic bread, vegetable relish and a brownie.
The cost will be a donation to support the Mims VFD.
Sponsored by the Mims VFD Ladies Auxiliary, Ii is a great way to enjoy a delicious meal and support the volunteer fire department.
OHTP plans Labor Day show
The Opera House Theatre Players (OHTP) are bringing the famous cowboy singing group “Sons of the Pioneers” to town on Monday, Sept. 6 for concert at 3 p.m.
“We had an idea to enlarge the event to a three-day event,” said OHTP director Marcia Thomas. “But we can’t do it alone. We’ll need physical help and positive support and/or ideas.”

Sun Auditions coming up!
Auditions will be held each Saturday and Sunday in April for roles in the play “Ancestral Voices.”
Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall, of the Episcopal Church, 703 Main St., Jefferson, Texas.
There are parts available for men and women, age ranges 20s-70 and production is set for late May.
Auditions will also be held for females ranging in age from 14- 60; two men age range 30s to 50s for a July 2-4 production of “Little w\Women – The Musical.”

Join the Pilgrimage Parade!
The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club invites all individuals and groups to be a part of this year’s Annual Jefferson Pilgrimage Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 1.
Line up begins at 9 a.m. at around Lions Club Park and it’s first come, first serve order.
