The Jefferson City Council will hold a Public Hearing at 6:30p tonight at the Transportation Center to receive feedback on the proposed new Alderman Ward Map for the City.
The last time the City went through redistricting to redraw the Ward map was 38 years ago due to a lawsuit brought by Eugene Robinson. The suit required the City to establish new Wards, one of which with majority minority population.
Following the hearing, council will hold a special meeting to approve the new map.
Council will also re-establish the 1st Tuesday of each month as a standing meeting to discuss updates to the city Ordinances and other items as necessary. Council approved an additional meeting at their last regular meeting, but due to wording on the agenda, have to redo the approval. The last agenda specified the 4th Tuesday of the month, not the 1st.
Other items on the agenda include:
- • approve paying expenditures to Friends of Jefferson Animals, not to exceed $5,933.37 for reimbursement for care and boarding of animals rescued by FOJA
- Approve Traylor and Associates to administer, process reimbursement requests, compliance review and closeout preparation for TxCDBG Planning Grant 7219064, not to exceed $1,000
- Consider raising the salary of the Jefferson Police Chief by an amount not to exceed $20,000
