This past week Marion County got it’s first opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Did it go perfectly? Were there enough doses for everyone who wanted one? Were we patient with those trying to get everyone registered? No.

The State did Marion County a disservice by trying to do the same thing they did with the Mobile Testing Units — last minute registration that has to be done online..

Limited and online only registration works in major metro areas. They don’t work in here.

The County did everything they could, as fairly as they could to register people for the 100 doses they were given.

But the complaints keep coming along with the accusations of unfairness and special treatment because someone didn’t hear about it until after it was over.

The County and TDEM learned what didn’t work. They’re working on what will work for next time.

But we’ve got to be patient and work with our community leaders who are just trying to help get us vaccinated.

Let’s remember we’re all in this together.
