Staff Reports

The 77th Historic Jefferson Pilgrimage, themed “The Heart of East Texas,” was last weekend and filled the town with the sights and sounds of the past.

The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club hosted the event which included four tour homes, evening garden strolls, the “Diamond Bessie Murder Trial” play, historic quilt show, the parade, and a plant and craft fair.

The “Battle for Jefferson” re-enactment also was performed with a street skirmish kicking things off on Saturday, followed multiple battle re-enactments, ladies tea, a grand ball, and the presentation of colors to close things out.

Despite the threat of weather, the event was deemed a huge success and plans are already being made for next year.

Some photos of the weekend are above and all are courtesy various individuals in and around Jefferson.
