City Hall Closed

City Hall offices will be closed on May 24 from 8a-1p due to a private event. The offices will reopen at 1p.

Combat Vets

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is sponsoring the 2024 Ark-La-ex Memorial Rally May 24-26 in Auntie Skinner’s in downtown Jefferson. There will be a live auction for a butchered steer, performances by Caleb Boles and Red Feather Tribe, and Loosey Anne Band, as well as bike games, and a fun run.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day Ceremonies will take place at 10a May 27 at Oakwood Cemetery. The event is sponsored by American Legion Post 304 and VFW Post 10373. The guest speaker will be SMSgt LaTosha Smith Jenkins, a 2002 graduate of Jefferson High School. Bees

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.

Trade Days

Jefferson Trade Days are starting up again next weekend on N. US 59 at the “old truck stop” just past Prospect Road. They are open  the 2nd and 4th Friday and Saturday’s of each month from 9a-5p.

Farmers Market

The Jefferson Farmers Market is getting ready to open Memorial Day Weekend and are accepting applications for those wanting to participate. The Cost is $25 for the entire season. They meet from 10a-2p every Saturday in downtown Jefferson. For more information, contact Doug Weir at the County AgriLife Extension Office, 903-665-2421.
