More Vaccines Coming to Marion County Next Week

Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur announced late Friday there were more COVID-19 Vaccines coming to Marion County on Thursday, March 4.

“The Texas Department of State Health Services will be in Marion County to administer the Moderna vaccine to residents of Marion County,” LaFleur wrote in a press release.

According to the release, registration will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, and will be by telephone only.

Registration continues to only be for 1a and 1b classifications.

  • 1a is for Front-line Healthcare Workers and residents at long-term care facilities.
  • 1b is for people age 65 and over, or people age 16 and over with a health condition which increases risk of severe COVID-19 illness. The Health Conditions include, but is not limited to:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
    • Down Syndrome
    • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
    • Organ transplantation
    • Obesity
    • Pregnancy
    • Sickle cell disease
    • Type 2 diabetes

The registration telephone number has not been provided at this time by DSHS, but will be announced as soon as it is available.

The Texas National Guard was back in Marion County today to administer the second round of COVID-19 vaccines.
