Jefferson’s fundraising for charitable causes got a big boost this week, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Phoenix Organization of Jefferson, Rockhouse Productions, and Brother’s Keepers Motorcycle Club donated slightly over $85,000 to Camp I’m Still Me on Sunday, thanks to their events and the generous support of Jeffersonians and visitors.

“We are so grateful to everyone who gave donations,” said Phoenix Organization president Michelle Fox, “all the members of the bands who played, Bikers for Christ, all the volunteers, the City of Jefferson for always approving the event, and all who participate at the event. We could not put this event on without each and every one of you. Thank you all!”

The motorcycle, which Phoenix has operated since 2014, came out of what was known as the Boo Benefit, takes place the second weekend in October every year, and brings thousands of bikers, bike enthusiasts, and other visitors to Jefferson. In total, the East Texas Burn Run Jefferson, and the Boo Benefit, have occurred for over 30 years, and raised money each year for the camp.

The Phoenix Organization also hosts the annual Outlaw Nationals in April is an open car show. That event also raises funds for the camp, and brings about 2,000 visitors to town.

In 2020, the Phoenix Organization partnered with Brother’s Keepers and merged the event sponsored by Brother’s Keepers with the Burn Run to better leverage available volunteers, and increase donations.

The next event is Outlaw Nationals which will take place April 16-17, and then the Burn Run on Oct. 8-9.
