SWEPCO is installing advanced digital meters for its Texas retail customers.

The Advanced Metering System (AMS) uses advanced metering and secure wireless technology to provide timely and accurate meter reading data. Customers can use this data to better understand and manage their electricity usage. 

Instead of monthly data, customers will be able to see their usage in 15-minute intervals, which can provide customers with information to better plan their energy consumption and conservation. In addition, SWEPCO customers can benefit through improved customer service and real-time outage notification to SWEPCO for more seamless power restoration during outage events.

How to be Ready

-Installation will start soon – your date will vary.

-You do not need to be home.

-Please provide clear access to your meter.

-There will be a brief power outage during your meter change (approximately 5 minutes).

-Entire project completion will be 4 to 10 weeks.

SWEPCO employees or contractors from QUES will change your meter. They will be in uniforms and marked vehicles with proper identification. Due to COVID-19, please stay at least six feet away from employees and contractors.

You will not be charged for the installation of the new meter. Should you opt-out of the new metering system, you will see a one-time fee and a recurring monthly charge on your SWEPCO bill.
