Rudy Montana was born in San Antonio, Texas to John Montana and Carlotta Vigel and passed away on July 20, 2022. Rudy is survived by his children: Denise Aloia and husband Paul, John Daniel Montana and wife Charlene, Teresa Jones, and Theron Ray Montana; and brother Rubin Montana and wife Jan. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lilly Patina, Dickie Montana and Dora Montana.

Rudy worked hard all of his life and excelled in the construction and heavy equipment operation. He served honorably in the USMC as a helicopter mechanic.

Rudy was a great Pawpaw to his grandkids and great grandkids and loved attending all events like music concerts, soccer games, tennis games and school plays. He was very proud of all their academic and extra-curricular achievements and would tell you so.

He never met a stranger and never missed a chance to talk or tease everyone he met from the girls at the What-A-Burger to all his doctors, nurses and staff.

He loved to play golf. Just seven weeks ago he played golf with his grandson and son-in-law, where he drove the ball three times straight and then sank an 18 foot putt for par to win the hole. He loved to play ping pong (he had a wicked curve ball serve) and church softball third base (getting many a player out at first base). Last, but not least, he was an avid domino player, and those of you who played with him, gave him joy!

Rudy loved his River Crossing Cowboy Church and greeting everyone there. He really enjoyed building things that he could sell to support the youth department, in addition to serving and helping out in the kitchen and with the rodeos. He felt he had a church home and he was blessed and thankful to RCCC. Rudy had a heart for others: if someone had a need, he would try to meet that need from family members to strangers. That was who he was.

Now Rudy loved a big family gathering with all of his family there: prayer, food, and games – in that order! Thanksgiving was always a time of reflection, thankfulness for God’s goodness and grace in the past year. Christmas was a time of prayer, Mexican food and the funny White Elephant game. God did Bless us all with fun and enjoyment till we gathered again.

A time of visitation with Rudy’s family will be Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 10-11am at River Crossing Cowboy Church, 475 Henderson School House Road in Marshall. Funeral Service will follow, beginning at 11am with Pastor Pete Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Park in Longview. Serving as Pallbearers are Andy Aloia, Tony Aloia, Paul Aloia, John Daniel Montana, Chris Montana and Honorary Pallbearer Theron Montana.
