The Linden office of the Texas A&M Forest Service will head to Kentucky today to help out with the growing number of wildfires in the state.

The public is invited to see off the Lone Star State Handcrew as they head off on a 14- to 21-day assignment. The suppression module, based in Linden leaves between 3- and 3:30p today from the Linden office on Hwy 59.

The state of Kentucky is experiencing increased wildfire activity due to persistent drought and weather conditions that are conducive to active wildfire behavior. Kentucky wildland firefighters have been tirelessly battling wildfires for more than a month and require additional personnel and equipment to assist.
