One of the most popular two films ever made in the 1940s, Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon,  will be presented in a radio-script form by Jefferson’s Opera House Theatre Players on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22 at the VFW Building on Hwy 59 near town.

A number of the best actors in the theatre company will play the characters in the two beloved stories and will dress in the 1940s costume to enhance the period of the stories.

At this point all the roles are cast according to theatre president and director Marcia Thomas.  “We ace have been so very lucky in our casting the right actors for these incredible roles including a new actor who is coming from out of town to play the famous role of “Sam” the piano player.  You might remember that role practically made the film because of the few lines that he had while tinkling the ivories with the Oscar-winning song “As Time Goes By”.  The original role was played by a black man named Dooley Wilson  from Tyler and our actor, Percy Hall, is going to play in our production and is actually going to sing some of the song!  He’s also a good artist and we think maybe some of his works will be on exhibit”.

The plays will begin at 7 pm each evening and will have a brief intermission between the two shows.  Ticket are $15 for adults and $8 for child under 12 and may be purchased online at www.JeffersonOperaHouseTheatrePlayers.com or locally at The Willow Tree.  There is open and limited seating.
