City of Jefferson

V. Hugh Lewis II/Jefferson Jimplecute

Jefferson’s Quiet Zone Committee held it’s first meeting last Tuesday as Council provided them with an overview of what is expected of them.

“There’s no time limit on this,” said Mayor Rob Baker. “We want just the facts, and however long it takes to get just the facts, is how long it takes.”

The four member committee  is  made up of Mark McKay, Scot Crismon, James Stacey, and Missy Delong.

Baker also provided them with a copy of the presentation by FRA’s Dr. Richard Washington which was made in December.

The committee will meet monthly with their next meeting at 6:30p July 17.

Council also approved a contract with Schaumburg & Polk for the city’s 2023 Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

In a separate meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission discussed the need to hold additional public hearings on the proposed Historic District Ordinance to garner public input.

The proposed district does not have any proposed restrictions and ratifies the 1971 National Historict District designation.

Hearings are propsed for September or October.
