Funeral services for Louise Capel Grubbs, 92, of Jefferson, Texas was held at 2pm on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Rev. Ron Danley officiating. Interment will follow at New Prospect Cemetery in Jefferson under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. A visitation was held at 1 pm Saturday Dec. 30, 2023, prior to the service.

Mrs. Grubbs was born in Littlefield, Texas to Grady and Bedie Larue Capel on Sept. 28, 1931, and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.

Mrs. Grubbs worked in the banking business for many years.  She worked at First National Bank Jefferson, and helped with the launch of the Jefferson National Bank in 1983 where she was vice president and travel director. She enjoyed planning trips for the bank’s customers. When she retired in 1998, she started her travel business, Louise’s Tours.  Her trips were always fun and exciting.  She enjoyed her time traveling and enjoyed making memories.

As a member of the First Baptist Church Jefferson, she enjoyed her Sunday school class and sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club in which she was very involved. The flower show was always a favorite of hers.  She served on several foundations including the Schluter Foundation Board as well as the Hebrew Cemetery Board.  

She was a 50 plus member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Bedie Capel,  husband Vance Grubbs of 66 years,  daughter Vickie Grubbs Chisholm, and brother James Capel.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Sterling and husband Eddie, brother Bill Capel and wife Beverly, son-in-law Steve Chisholm, grandchildren Reece and Mica Sterling, Ryan and Ashlee Sterling, Todd and Chrissy Sterling, Adam and Becca Chisholm, Carrie Chisholm, and Michael Chisholm, Seven great-grandchildren Jonah Long, Sydney, Peyton, Levi, Mason, Jaxon Sterling, and Leo Chisholm and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Reece Sterling, Ryan Sterling, Adam Chisholm, Michael Chisholm, Jonah Long, Mike Capel and Ronnie Capel.

Our family would like to thank Prime Care Home Health nurses, Prime Care Hospice nurses, and Arabella staff.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 523 N. Polk St., Jefferson, TX. 75657 or New Prospect Cemetery, 1312 East Prospect Rd., Jefferson, TX. 75657.
