Birding
Caddo Lake State Park is celebrating Birding Month with tours every Friday at 9a and 1p. Learn the basics of birding, search for common and rare birds, and play bird bingo. The location may vary, but Saw Mill Pond and Day Use areas will be the starting locations. underground

Paint the Town Blue
April is Family Strengthening Month. Next week (April 8-12) decorate your house or your storefront with all things BLUE! The best decorated will win breakfast for 4 at the Carriage House! The winner will be announced at the Go Blue Event at 2:30p April 12 at Otstott Park. 180th Year
First Methodist Church of Jefferson will celebrate their 180th year on April 13-14. They will have a Catfish Dinner and entertainment from 5-6:15p April 13, and 11a Worship Service on Sunday, April 14. Come help them celebrate! 305 W. Henderson.

The Friends of the Jefferson Carnegie Library will host author David Puckett as he does a reading and reception on his book, Eye on the Sparrow, at 5:30p April 17, upstairs at the Jefferson Carnegie Library. The event is free.
Lecture
The Marion County Historical Society and Museum will hold their quarterly lecture series starting at 6p April 18 at the museum. This quarter’s topic is the “History of Railroading in Harrison County”. A Wine and cheese reception begins at 6p and the program starts at 6:30p The event is free.
4-H Fair
Marion County 4-H Fair will be held in Downtown Jefferson this year in conjunction with Outlaw Nationals Car Show, April 20. They will be on the Courthouse parking lot. Come show your support for Jefferson 4-H students!

Earth Week
Marion County will celebrate Earth Week from April 21-30. Dumpsites will be open regular hours and there are no charges for Marion County residents. The City will have dumpsters available next to Police Station on N. Alley, and at the Community Center on Haywood on April 27. See more details on page 8.

Health Help
MD Health Pathways, along with the City of Jefferson, is holding a Town Hall Meeting at 6:30p April 30 at the Visitor’s Center. They have an opt-in program that could give residents the ability to get quick and easy medical help via an app on their cellphone. Cost for the service is minimal per month and can be billed via one’s water bill. Come to the meeting to learn more and provide feedback to Council about possibly implementing this program.

Diamond Bessie
Tickets for the 70th Diamond Bessie Murder Trial are on sale and may only be purchased by calling 903-665-0737. Performances begin on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:30p. Other performances will be Friday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 4th at 5:30p and 8:30p. The final performance will be Sunday, May 5th at 2 pm. The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly mixer at Pop Culture SocieTea (on Lafayette Street) at 5:30p April 23. The public is invited to attend.
Trade Days
Jefferson Trade Days are starting up again this weekend on N. US 59 at the “old truck stop” just past Prospect Road. They are open the 2nd and 4th Friday and Saturday’s of each month from 9a-5p.
